How we verify
Every claim on this site traces to a source, and anything we cannot source is labelled. That is the whole editorial policy.
Where the facts come from
- Regulatory framework — the Ontario Building Code, Division B Part 8, the Building Code Act and MECP publications. We describe the framework and always point you to your principal authority for the local version.
- Cost bands — published Ontario installer guides for 2026: conventional systems CAD 15,000–35,000 (typ. 18–28k), advanced systems CAD 35,000–65,000. Calculator outputs are interpolations of those bands and are labelled as planning ranges.
- Association facts — OOWA's role, its Find a Professional directory and the Registered Professionals Program (RPP). We verify nothing on your behalf; we tell you how to verify it yourself at oowa.org.
- Regional notes — generic geographic characterisations (Shield bedrock in Muskoka, clay plains in Essex), never site-specific claims. Your site evaluation is the only ground truth.
What we refuse to do
- Invent installers, reviews, ratings or phone numbers.
- Sell placements — no listing is live, and CTA buttons are honest placeholders.
- State municipal program details (like inspection cycles) as fact — those change, so we tell you to confirm with your municipality.
